5 Ways to Spend a Rainy Day

5 Ways to Spend a Rainy Day

Rainy days are a bummer, especially for dogs who love to run and play outside. Active dogs can get restless and even destructive when cooped up indoors for long periods of time. It’s important to have a few indoor activities to keep your pup entertained throughout the day, and to keep you both happy. Here are five of our favorite ways to spend a rainy day with your furry friend.

1. Obedience Training

Make the most of a day spent inside by working on obedience training with your dog. Practicing commands or learning new ones will keep your pup engaged. Dogs love having work to do, and performing tricks for their human gives them a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

2. Nourishment Games

Nourishment games are a fun and rewarding way to keep your dog busy on rainy days. These puzzle games usually require your pup to find hidden treats using different senses. Your dog gets to play and earn treats while exercising their brain!

3. Treat Balls

Similar to nourishment games, treat balls can keep your dog busy for hours. Stuff the treat balls with food or treats and leave them for your dog to chew. You can even freeze the ball and its contents to make the fun last longer. They come in all shapes and sizes, so you’re sure to find one that’s perfect for your dog. 4. New Toys

New toys invoke curiosity and encourage your dog to explore. They’ll have so much fun figuring out their new toy, they may even forget that they can’t play outside.

5. Run Errands

Rainy days are perfect for running errands, so why not let your pup tag along? The new sights and sounds they encounter will keep your dog entertained, especially if they love car rides. Car seat covers are handy to have to protect your seats from wet fur and muddy paws.

As a dog owner it is your responsibility to help your dog channel their energy in positive ways. We hope this article was helpful and gave you ideas on what you can do when the weather isn’t permitting.
